Kristina J. Hanson Cavanaugh
Attorney
Kristina provides general corporate counsel and litigation services to business and not-for-profit organizations. She counsels clients through the corporate formation process and guides non-profit entities through the process of achieving and maintaining tax-exempt status. Mrs. Cavanaugh works with community bankers in documenting transactions and in protecting creditor rights. She also provides more concentrated legal advice to professional liability and general liability insurers. She gives coverage advice to insurers and drafts specialized policies, applications, and endorsements across various insurance fields.
Early in her career, Kristina developed a special appreciation for alternative dispute resolution methods. Before attending law school, she had the opportunity to clerk at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Washington, D.C. While studying at Marquette University Law School, Kristina completed an internship with the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office within the Community Conferencing Program and mediated civil cases in the Milwaukee County Circuit Court Small Claims Division. She was also an Articles Editor of the Marquette Elder’s Advisor Law Journal and was awarded a Public Interest Law Society Fellowship. Upon graduation from Marquette University, Kristina served as Alternative Dispute Resolution Law Clerk to former United States District Judge Layn Phillips in Newport Beach, California.
Two of our attorneys, Keith Hanson and Kristina Cavanaugh, were sworn into the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States in June 2015 with the Illinois State Bar Association.
